Training with SVA users – to be continued

Last week we went on with the training involving the users of Scuola di Vita Autonoma and lead other two sessions. In the first one we talked about the communication between mobile phone, and in particular about text messages, whereas in the second one we focused on chatting online. In both cases we motivated the participants by involving them in exercises, activities and discussions, with the help of educators.

We will conclude this training program with the SVA users in January, with an even more creative and engaging activty!

Training with SVA users

Last week seed staff performed two of the four training sessions with the users of Scuola di Vita Autonoma about technologies and their use in daily life.

In the first week we focused on the internet and social networks. In particular, we discussed about the way in which information moves within the web and can be tracked once is accessed by computers.

In order to make the training session as involving as possible for the participants the topics discussed were represented by users and trainers acting as computers, servers and files.

Users also had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss together, and they were very interested and engaged!

Digital Storytelling for Development

An article written by seed’s staff members about the Digital Storytelling for Development model (DSD) will be bublished by the International Journal of Arts and Technology (IJART).
The model presented in this paper applies digital storytelling to international development and to the social environment. In particular, the educational project implemented in the institute Sant’Angelo in Loverciano (Ticino, Switzerland) is described indetail as an example of the DSD applied.

Scuola di Vita Autonoma: design starts

Un momento del corso

In february 2011, Sara Corbino & Luca Botturi held in Locarno a course on digital technologies for 7 staff members of ProInfirmis, a healthcare service provider in Ticino. The goal: understanding and exploring the world of digital technologies, its opportunities and risks, especially for people with disabilities.

This was the first phase of a path that now comes to its more active part: in march new meetings are schedules with staff from Scuola di Vita Autonoma (school for sutonomous life) for designing a project for their guests.

Scuola di Vita Autonoma – Training – 2

On Tuesday Luca and Sara lead the second training session with operators of Scuola di Vita Autonoma .

In the first part of the afternoon we focused on viruses – what they are, how to avoid them… – and antiviruses, whereas the last part of the session was dedicated to social networks. We presented different types of social networks, with their functions and peculiarities, to show the operators how they can used in a fruitful way, without waisting time.

We also discussed with them about how to deal with unknown “friends” and privacy issues.

The next challenge will be to transfer what we learnt in these days to the clients of Scuola di Vita Autonoma, in a simple and effective way!
